Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!
On a high level these are the steps that I follow for each logo design project. Although there is much that goes on behind each of these steps this is the framework that I try to follow for each logo design project.
Part of my job as a designer is to help clients achieve clarity about their brand identity. This means asking lots of questions before any designing actually begins. Before jumping right into your logo design, you need to have a clear vision for your brand.
Collecting this information helps me understand the message you are trying to convey through your brand.
Knowing your ideal customers helps you understand their lifestyle in general. Knowing your ideal people, helps me to create designs which will appeal to them.
We can schedule a time to do this over the phone together, or you can fill out this questionnaire at your own pace.
Based on the information gathered from the previous step, I start curating images, typography examples etc for the inspiration board.
The inspiration board is an essential step from which the rest of the design is based. It is one of the foundational pieces and so it needs to be as strong and on brand as possible.
Once I finish the inspiration board set up, I present it to the clients for approval. I leave some buffer time here to factor in changes & additions. We want to get this step right.
I usually come up with a concept and explore it completely until I have exhausted all possibilities. I continue to explore until I feel there is nothing left to add or remove.
Then I pick another concept, explore it completely.
Then another one, repeat. You get the idea.
After I have explored 3-5 concepts, the client will be provided with a variety of initial designs, each taking the brand in a unique direction.
The client will be encouraged to select their favorite logo(s) and provide feedback or any requested changes to move forward.
I’ll address these notes and then the client be encouraged to pick one concept to move forward with.
Once we have selected the concept to move forward with, we explore any additional notes the client may have to get the logo just right.
The client will be given three rounds of revisions before the final design is created.
Once the final logo is approved, I make any last minute touch ups that need to be made. I go over the kerning, grid structure, spacing etc one last time to make sure its perfect.
Once the logo is finalized we will then begin work on the Logo Style Guide which includes secondary logo variations, fonts, colors and elements.
